Taking own food into Disney and Universal?

I find park food all very samey (chicken strips/pizza/burgers/chips) and also, with 5 of us, quite expensive if we were to eat a meal there. Add in it being quite filling, I don't normally eat that at a lunchtime when at work and I think taking your own food, own portions etc is the best plan.

Kids get a juice or an ice cream in parks if they want one but more then often they are not fussed.

I get the price thing, but we were there for 11 nights last time and didn't eat a single burger. I had chicken nuggets once because I wanted them but that's it. No pizza, either. I had everything from chicken and rice to pasta, you can get all sorts to eat.

I was surprised this year to see the amount of people with wheel along coolers in the parks ( they were mainly hispanic's ) but they had rather big wheeled coolers being dragged around

as a side note to that, look at the IGLOO MAX COLD coolers, they do a backpack style one, it will keep ice frozen for a few days, i have a lunchbox style one, kept 2 bottles of water frozen for 2 days in the back of the car

We take snacks in and sometimes a picnic. We pop into Publix and get one of their deli subs. Absolutely lovely and they cut the full size in half and wrap, but they will cut them in to 3 or 4 if you ask. Only $7.99 too and with some crisps and fruit are perfect for lunch in the parks. We find the meat keeps fine in them too, we always put in a couple of frozen waters and they stay fresh.
