Car Hire with Virgin - Tip

Or maybe it's not a tip, but it worked for me...

The last time I went, I booked through Virgin for the flights, accommodation and car hire as a package (usually, I'd rather sort out my own car hire, but ah well).

when making our way out of the Orlando International (after you get off the monorail shuttle), there was a Virgin rep standing there, and everyone was bustling past. She was trying to catch the attention of people who had flown in on the Virgin flight. I decided to just go up and say hello, as I felt bad that she was being ignored.

So then, she announces that I was pre-selected as 'customer of the day' (mm-hmm) and gave me a slip to take to the car hire desk and said I had a free upgrade. I'd been wary about this kind of thing from reading similar stories online, but when I got to the desk, I clarified it and there genuinely were no extra fees or hidden things for me to pay - I asked a million times. They were amused taking us around the garage to pick the car as there were so many options they would let us pick from (wouldn't let me take a convertible, though - boo!). So instead of the cheapest little 3 door car, we ended up driving around in this beautiful Cadillac and -bonus- it had this nifty spaceship-like interior with built in GPS and all sorts of bells and whistles. I loved it.

So, it may not work every time, but if you have booked with Virgin, I'd say it might not hurt to say a super-friendly hello to the rep lurking at the airport and you may get a lovely little upgrade freebie like I did!

No rep there

Tomorrow was a nightmare, vs75 delayed on Tarmac landed same time as vs27 and a ba flight, 1200 people in the customs area, 1 hour 25 minutes from off the plane to garage.

Only things left were dodge caravans

I did a tour managed to grab one with 5450 miles on it, sat nav still active. Emptiest I've seen the rows at Orlando
