how far in advance for flight booking reference?

we booked with charter travel for ssr leaving 26th nov 2018, they have said we wont receive flight reference until 7-8 months before flight and that the disney reference wont wont up until 180days before the start of holiday!

well this is strange as we previously received our flight reference 11 months and our disney reference 12months in advance? these were both from charter travel for our last holiday!?

anyone else experience the same delay when using a travel agent other than virgin holidays or disney world direct?

I would expect it immediately I booked. They should be booking the flight immediately and therefore should have the number. If they cant give you the reference they haven't booked the flight.

The two issues you have mentioned are the very reason I won't use an agent
Errant nonsense. Flights should be booked circa 11 months prior to the return by date and SSR the same or similar time scale.
If they can't achieve this they are not acting in your best interest but in their own.

We booked our flights on Wednesday for October 19th 2018. got home and realised my booking ref number wasn't the right number for the BA website, phoned the store and was given my flight locator number straight away. Id keep pestering, or call the airline direct and see if they can help at all. x

Edit to add: this was Thomas Cook not Charter.

Thought as much 😢 will send them �another� email! Considering when we booked we paid �300 deposit, got home from latest holiday to a email asking for another �300 deposit!

Never been an issue before in regards to reference numbers etc even a phone call to disney and they cant find any booking related to our name! Will update when i get a reply from charter

Why not phone rather than email. Much easier to ignore emails.
This is one of the reasons I try to never use travel agents.

have you tried ringing charter lol, a bit hit and miss with their customer service!
