Here is a photo taken from the automatic camera - no personality at all.

Credit to BackDoorDisney where you can find a photo of the box itself too

Oh no. We had at least 18 character meets over the past 2 weeks and so many lovely photos. We met Tinkerbell who was going on and on about her favourite shade of blue to DS (is it cloud blue, sky blue, light blue, baby blue?) he didn’t get it, and his face is priceless.
For the photographers, especially with a camera shy toddler, nothing was too much trouble.

This is poor.

It is the same as how Merlin currently operate those photos they make you pose for at their attractions - such as Sealife centres, Dungeons, Gruffalo ride at Chessington etc. Basically look at the box, smile, staff member presses a button, camera flashes and that's it.

That's so disappointing..it'll be hard for those that want one on our own,one with just the kids one with Granny on her own and one with Granny and the kids and a group one too!🤔😄

I'd imagine quite a bit of uproar from this... Especially those that pay full price for the photography service,so with any luck it might force them to give up the idea soon enough!

Oh I don’t like the sound of this, like others have said some of my favourite photos are the ones that you don’t realise are being taken, not impressed at all

If they are insisting on introducing this (which I am extremely dissapointed about), I'd rather they offer this as the basic memory maker package for those who get it free with their tickets, and then offer guests an upgrade for a set fee to get photographers to take the photos instead of the stupid box.

Not happy about this at all

This is disappointing.

If they had to remove someone, then they really should have removed the CM and kept the photographer. Let the photographer greet the guest, introduce them to the character(s), get them into position, take the photo, etc.

When Disney announced the record breaking pay rise earlier this year my thought then was yes they will pay staff more. However they will reduce the workforce to a level where it costs them nothing

Automated meet and greet photos?!

wdwmagic/other/photo...-locations.htm

Just seen this, what a shame, how can it capture photos like a real person?

Some of my boys best photos are the approach to the character and their faces, not so much the posed one.
