Hi how long is your trip and what else are you planning. LA is a monstrous spread about a 100 miles across so planning is needed. Most people find 2/3 days max for Disney 2/3 days max for the rest of LA and then go and see some of the other great places in California .

You should be fine, worst case is the airline puts you on the next flight provided you are on a through ticket.

Last time we transferred through it was tight on a 3h05m transfer and we were the last to board the onward flight. All I can recommend is you don't hang about in getting into the immigration hall and into the queue. A lot depends on whether your flight comes in behind others, ours at that time came in behind one from China and that makes for very slow progress. We also then had to change terminals and back in through security which was busy even with priority lane access.

3 hours should be enough and a breeze if the flight comes in where you aren't fighting with others.
