Made a cake for my stepmums 70th birthday yesterday. Did my sisters easy Victoria sponge recipe. Covered it with Swiss buttercream and layered it with the same with lemon & passion fruit curd.
     It was a lovely day with family over from Australia for the first time since covid x

Anyone done any baking recently? Thought I'd add my latest efforts.
 Black Forest cupcakes.  Old school vanilla traybake  First attempt at gougere. Not a patch on the ones served at my brothers wedding    Vanilla cupcakes and sugar biscuits for a beautiful ladies salon opening.

I've not been doing as much as I'd like, mainly cos we just eat it all! A few things below, still got some of the chocolate frosted ones. Thinking of making some apple muffins over the weekend.

When we’ve done cake sales at school the standard choc/vanilla cupcakes with fancy/multicoloured topping sold out quicker than the one’s that had flavoured cake too. Edited at 12:33 PM. |

I made them aldi alternative biscuits in the cakes with spread plus spread in the buttercream, they were quite nice. I've found a jaffa cake cupcake recipe to try now.
