We've done this twice in the past and gone up the turnpike both times. We also had the plan to stop at the service plazas but both times all the food outlets were closed - and it was only around 7pm - so please bear this in mind if that's what you plan to do.

We are driving up from Miami again this year

1st night in a hotel 5 mins from the airport, then up at stupid o'clock due to time difference. Will probably take the turnpike as previous years and stop for a coffee and food when the need takes us

Should be at our villa by 9am

We're staying in the Sheraton at Miami airport and driving up the following morning to Kissimmee.

Is the turnpike known as the I95?

We’re planning on driving up the 27, any suggestions for the best places to stop either for food or just an interesting place for a wander around?

No, the Florida Turnpike is a toll road that goes diagonally from Miami to Orlando. I95 is free but closer to the east coast. You then need to change roads to head west to Orlando. H27 is also free but slower as it isn't the equivalent of a motorway.

We travel in the opposite direction, from Orlando to Miami, but the idea would be the same.

We use the Tamiami, so we would head across to Naples and stay the night after an airboat ride at Buffalo Tigers and then a walk on Delnor Wiggins beach and to bed.

Next day, it would be straight up Venice and Caspersen beach before spending the night in the Hampton, next to Busch Gardens.

Next day would be BG,before driving across to Orlando when we finished with the park.

In this way, we would have done our Airboat ride, our Gulf Coast Beach bit and our Busch Gardens fix, whilst spending just 2 nights doing it and avoiding any return journeys to anywhere, thus saving loads of miles.

You can see the reverse of it in the Toronto etc 2022 trip report linked to my signature.

We always go up the us27. It’s a great route with very little traffic. Also nice to see some of the agriculture on the way up.
