Japan Boarders to open in June?

In his speech in London with Boris, the Japanese PM said in his speech:

At the end of last year, Japan strengthened its border control measures in response to the global spread of the Omicron variant. It was an essential public-health step to delay the variant's entry into the country. This allowed us to fortify our healthcare system and promote vaccinations. I hope it is not too boastful to say that Japan's response to COVID-19 has been one of the most successful in the world.

We have now eased border control measures significantly, with the next easing taking place in June, when Japan will introduce a smoother entry process similar to that of other G7 members.

That would be nice!

Although I know a lot of people who really want to go to Japan on holiday so I expect air ticket prices (currently around pre-COVID levels) will shoot up the moment Japan reopens their borders! Hopefully the airlines will add more flights when this happens, there used to be quite a lot of daily flights between here and Japan on multiple airlines but there are very few at the moment...

Yes I saw that in the news! Sadly not something I'd consider (not a pre-packaged fixed tour person at all and highly doubt any tour will spend more than a day in Disneyland if that) so I'm just going to have to keep waiting!

On Tuesday May 17, government officials revealed that Japan is set to begin accepting some tourists on a trial basis from four countries – the US, Australia, Thailand, Singapore – later this month. According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, travellers from the aforementioned countries will be allowed to enter Japan as long as they have received three Covid-19 vaccinations and are part of a government-approved tour group with a fixed itinerary.
