Lifes Short- Lets Make it Sweet- Day 11- Costa Maya
Day 11
COSTA MAYA After yesterdays disaster we woke up this morning not looking forward to our "Port Adventure" today. It was a trip to the ruins in Costa Maya, and was going to be an antidote for me having watched the oodles of fun from the sideline yesterday in the dolphin encounter. Sadly, anyone who read yesterdays trip will know it was more like abstract torture of the worst kind for both me & Georgia. Shed had a really bad nights sleep, partly because of the sunstroke, grrrrrrr, and partly because of waking up yelling and flapping about, dreaming about drowning probably. The tour wasn't as expensive as yesterdays and I although I fancied some history and taking some nice photographs to say Id been there, I just didn't have the heart to wake Georgia up in time for some more torture out in the sun today. Paul having delayed guilt about yesterday conceded it probably was best to miss it rather than taking a tired grumpy girl on a dodgy bus to see some mini pyramids. So heres what we could have seen Must admit later in the day after speaking to our tablemates, i think we did the right thing, they had ventured out on a trip to some equally lovely relics with their three kids. They had despised it all with a vengeance and basically made the day a bizarre form of torture in the 100 degree heat, for all concerned. So once Georgia woke up we had a late breakfast on a very quiet ship and sat around the pool all morning. Lovely. We had lunch in one of the formal restaurants which was a change and then took Georgia to do the Mid ship detective agency game. This required stamina of a long distance runner. You supposed to skip from deck to deck finding clues to find out who committed the crime. I of course being the brains of this family found the quickest way of doing it was to do all aft floors first (up & down in lifts) and then all for floors…then all midship floors as it didn't really matter which order you do it in. So we had a pleasant couple of hours doing this and found the criminal in the end - yippeeeeee Georgia went to the kids club and we had a one or two drinks at the adult pool bar. The show tonight was Wishes, another really good show not to be missed so we got her outve the club and got dressed for dinner and took our seats in the upstairs balcony. Its a seriously lovely theatre, theres even little "boxes" if your organised enough to get there very early. Some characters before dinner. After dinner we watched a comedian in one of the europa bars, his name was Michael Holly. He was good but not hilarious , so i sneaked off and took some photos of the amazing toilets in the bar area. Yes Im strange, but i did miss out of the Maylain ruins, and they ARE particularly spectacular toilets. Pretty quiet day all round, we were all damaged souls after yesterday and another sea day for us tomorrow would just about put us back on track. |
