In case you didn't know which side the fuel cap is on

ok so your driving your rental or new car and you need fuel, but which side is the fuel filler cap on ?

well you could get out of the vehicle and start looking round it. heres a handy tip...

look at the fuel gauge on the dash. at the side of the pump icon is an arrow. if it points left the fuel cap is on the left... if it points right the cap is on the right

check your own car when you next get in.. hope this helps

I was always told "if the man with the finger in his ear has it in his left ear then thats the side the cap is on" in your pic the man has his finger in the right ear? So ya cap is on the right

Always use this method to remember which side it is on my own car, I’m never 100% sure

I had a 1991 Golf GTI and it had that marking, so it’s been around for many years, butvery easily missed. My son only found out about it when he bought his own car ( instead of driving his mums!) and the Salesman showed him on handover. This was about 9 months ago
