When we were last in Florida in 2018 they were running a good tv ad campaign about having girls and boys vaccinated.

As yet, it may change there is no catch up planned for boys who missed out at school. My son 16 wasn't eligible so he cant have it under the NHS. The rules often do change so watch this space. As it is at the moment girls born after 1.9.1991 up to the age of 25 and boys born after 1.9.2006 remain eligible until 25. You really need to be vaccinated before becoming sexually active for it to offer the best protection.

Okay, I’m coming in with the TMI personal post here- sorry everyone!
Okay, if she’s sexually active then yes she may have already contracted a strain of HPV that the vaccine would have covered. This happened to me (I got the vaccine when I was in college). But, unless she’s been tested (routinely only done with/instead of smear test), then she’s not going to know if she has a strain of HPV. Plus, the vaccine doesn’t protect against all strains anyway. If I knew I already had HPV before I got the vaccine, would I still have got it? Hell yes! I don’t know which one my strain is and on the off chance it’s one not covered by the vaccine anyway then better to be protected from the others! That’s my personal opinion. There’s lots of information and research out there for her to make her own, informed decision. Today is World Cancer Day. It’s VITAL that people are having these conversations and looking out for their health.
