We have blankets on the sofas for our Westie - he's allowed up if there is a blanket. But he does not go upstairs at all. the thought of him on the bed actually repulses me. He picks up all sorts in his fur - teeny tiny slugs and bugs, bits of leaf etc. not on my bed!

Our cavalier Ellie is nearly 12, she will sleep on the sofa on occasion but prefers the floor. Our cavachon Amber loves to sleep on a pillow on our chair arms (chairs next to each other). They both sleep on vetbed in the kitchen at night, in the morning DH brings me coffee in bed, both dogs come into the bedroom then and Amber comes up on to the bed and cuddles next to me, Ellie comes up to the bed for a bit of fuss but then goes for her breakfast in the hall (we’re in a bungalow so all on the same level), Amber tends to eat her breakfast a bit later.

Our dog sleeps on the bed and now can’t jump off in the dark or climb on so I have to lift her on and off while dh snores! But who can say no to this face!

Both of our dogs were Westie, they are a lovely breed.

Licking plates, that’s another thing my son lets his dog do that we never did, yoghurt pots though, that was a different matter.
