Parking gets worse at DTD

More parking lots at Dowtown Disney will be closing next week to allow construction work for Disney Springs.

Beginning March 18 2014, parts of lots E, F and G, which are all in the area outside of T-REX and Pollo Campero in the Marketplace, will be closed. The affected areas are the top side of the lots, closest to T-REX and the other buildings.

The overflow parking options at Team Disney and the Casting Center remain in use as required, so if parking at Downtown Disney, be sure to follow signs to these overflow areas.

We were there last Thursday and it was a bit of a nightmare. I must admit I didnt see any signs to the overflow areas but I could have missed them. The traffic was also very heavy all away around DTD so if going that way I would allow some extra time. Talking to some of the cms at the guest services they are also very fed up with it all.

We are going next week and staying opposite DTD in Buena Vista Palace, so can walk over to DTD, do you know if walkways are closed too, or diverted!

We were there last week as well and it was a total nightmare, lots of beeping horns and revving engines with cars waiting (or rather hassling) people to hurry up getting out of their parking bays when leaving.
Not a very nice atmosphere

Walkways are open. Some of the shops are closed and one has been taken out to put yet another Starbucks in. Looks as if the entrance to DTD check in is still open but couldn't see how much parking space there was.
Parks are really busy. Weather is lovely.

A friend who is a Disney CM said that the rumour is covered parking (the new multi storey) will be charging $15, but surface parking will remain free.

It is the total lack of organisation that is so frustrating. In February we were trying to take our bags to Virgin bag drop at DTD. As it was daytime there appeared to be loads of space in the car park behind Cirque. However, a large section was coned off for valet parking which was completely empty. Walkways were also fenced off which made it very difficult with suitcases.

Can't wait, I work in construction and DH is a builder, so this sounds like a busman's holiday! (with more sun)! as long as we can walk to DTD, we will be fine. Perhaps some will avoid the area and we can get a table sooner for any meals.
