TY for posting Mark, whilst I'm a baldie fan we also have a pair of red shouldered hawks hang around the pool whilst raising their young, your photo is a superb hawk example, a beaut of a raptor.

Is the top one a red shouldered hawk? He looks a bit speckled to me. Absolutely beautiful tho.

I can imagine. I walked towards her as she was on one post, then flew onto another. I managed to get close enough for this photo then took one more step. That's when she opened her beak and made a growling sound while curling up her talons. That's when I stepped back.

From following the pair at the pool, I believe it's a male in Selina's photo Sue, whereas Mark's appears to be a juvenile yet to achieve adult markings.

The pair at the pool caused some mirth a few years ago Mark. Female flew onto a pool floodlight and proceeded to call. Senior ladies in the pool look up and the male lands beside the first... said to hubs 'this isn't going to end well'... 'aww, look', 'that's so cute' and 'isn't that lovely' came to an abrupt halt when the male flew onto the back of the female... amazing how quiet it went (apart from me laughing my back off

).

Of course I made an official complaint to the pool Supervisor re the days show, she laughed her back off too

Good story!

Our house, a couple of miles south of Bay Hill/ Dr Phillips backs onto a wooded area. We have seen everything over the years, from the tiniest of bugs to a bear in our garage (yes, really!). Coming from an area in London where you are lucky to see a squirrel or two, it's great.
