In 1999 and about 2 weeks before our wedding, I had just finished night shift, had got home and gone straight to sleep. I was awoken by Mandie bouncing all over the bed and shouting that she had one a honeymoon in a bridal magazine competition. Of course, I did not believe her, thinking it was a scam and going back to sleep.

About a half hour later, I was again awoken. Mandie had phoned about the competition and received confirmation.

10 nights half board in Le Tousserok Hotel in Mauritius, was the deal.. reputedly one of the top ten Hotels Worldwide at the time and on this year, in the Top ten... flights, taxi transfers etc. Le Tousserok has its own private island, where Hobie Cats, Lazer Dinghies, Kayaks, Mask Fin Snorkel etc were absolutely free and on a ‘use as you see fit’ basis. This was the Hotel where Andrew and Fergie spent their honeymoon and where guest Chef the Week before we arrrived was Ken Hom. Luxurious and 5 star is an understatement with individual cabins around a lagoon, the owner was Sol Kurzner who also owns Sun City.

Our Chalet marked. IFE aux Ceres is in the middle distance behind it.

The rather average infinity pool.

The bedroom.. a marginal upgrade on a travelodge. There was a lounge also.

I was suitably impressed. During that period, when competitions were entered on a postcard, she won.

Second prize in a Tim Herman contest, Bag, Shirt, Shorts, Socks, Balls and very expensive racket. Fortunately she never won first prize, which was a Tennis lesson with Tim as neither of us has ever played!

A dozen really good quality Easter Eggs.

A decorative Coffee Mug.

I won a Silverseas cruise at a charity ball in 2001. We went to the Black Sea. We only had to pay for flights to Istanbul and home from Athens.

I won £1000 on online casino and screamed the house down.
My brother entered a budweiser competition when he was in New York and won an all expenses trip to New York. He booked and went back the month after. 😊

I remember winning two trivial pursuit games when they first came out .
The local radio was doing a question every hour for 24 hours.
Me and my sister took it in turns during the night - to get one question then set the tape cassette on record ( how naughty were we ) to get the next hours question 😂😂😂

The sack race
Actually, £25 on the premium bonds!
I never win anything.

I’m fairly sure I’ve never won anything better than that 🤔

*ooh, just remembered, I won the Hamilton lottery soon after it opened. Now that was very exciting 🤩
