Just watched a video on things to do around Disney that you can do without going into the parks.

It showed the ticket machine at one of the monorail stations - and the screen shot showed a “Recharge IC” option that the maker did not use, but suggests you can top up the Suica there

we bought a 4 day monorail pass each from the ticket machine, which saved us money. I cant remember the break even point but at 4 days it was certainly worth it for 2x uses a day (we used it more than twice a day as we had a nap midday or a break in ikspiari). for shorter passes it might have been 3x uses a day.

Hmmm I can no longer see the “SuicaEng” app in the Apple App Store anymore - can someone else search and see if they can see it?

I’ve just looked and can’t find English version either.

Edit: Found this - not available now

Darn - not sure if should edit the main post to take out the parts about the app, as now looks only way to get Suica onto your iPhone is to move a physical card to it.

Went back to that blog and found he has guides on how to remove a Suica from your iPhone, before you get a new iPhone, how to remove from a lost iPhone and other troubleshooting guides. Really useful so thank you for finding it

Well those nice people at Apple have made it now (well actually it appears they added this some time ago and I never knew) so you can add a Suica card to your iPhone and / or Apple Watch within iOS - meaning you do not need to have a physical Suica card first, and then move it onto you iOS device.

The full Apple document is here:

support.apple/en-us/HT207155

Seems pretty easy, but remember to set your region to Japan before you try this, but then set it back to your normal location (UK, US etc.) once done. The Suica card you create will still stay in your Apple Wallet

On a related note, I was in London last week to see Xmas windows (Harrods windows were very poor I have to say, bar the Channel entranced they created) and made my UK debit card an Express Travel Card - and tapped in and out of the Tube without having to unlock my iPhone each time - very easy!

TDR Explorer has shared a video where they buy gatchapon toys based on the Suica / Pasmo and other IC cards and readers - when you place the toy card over the toy reader - plays a tune.

Is it sad that I REALLY want a set of these toys?
