Recruitment Nightmare Week
I am currently quite annoyed, fed up & downright down beat!
This week I have been interviewing for one post & shortlisting for another, both with really disappointing results: for the first post (which has a c.40K salary & needed a degree & post grad degree qualifications), I had 7 interviews lined up over TEAMS, one person did not turn up & later emailed to say they had left their phone at home, sorry, one thought they had applied for a job in Salford & stated they had never heard of Bradfordshire (?! ?), then had the cheek to ask if I was sure I'd advertised the job correctly, one was clearly out of their depth & had obviously lied on the application & the one I offered the job to stated they only wanted a 3 day week - so why apply for a full time role? For the other one (c.30K salary), I was shortlisting for a role that clearly stated an essential qualification for the role was a specific post grad certificate, of the 11 applicants, only 2 had the said qualification! Right, rant over, I'm off for a lie down... |

Good grief, B, what are the roles? I'm reliable and don't tell fibs 😇

What a pain and a bit of a waste of time for you.
When I was a catering manager I spent all day interviewing about 12 people for a supervisor role and not one of them was suitable so a complete waste of a day and I’d been so poorly for a few days and dragged myself in to do these interviews I should’ve just stayed in bed Hope you get some suitable candidates soon

I am told, don't shoot the messenger, that if men fit 1/3 of the job description they apply. If women only fit 2/3 they don't apply. Not sure if this is true.
I agree, most are time wasters but, I'm sad you didn't consider the person who only wanted 3 days a week. Three days of a good person is worth 10 days of a chappy worker and the cost is lower. Better someone who is happy working part time than one that is grumpy working full time. |

I have a 10 yard swimming certificate so would that get me either or both jobs?

I have been helping a friend trying to recruit a mid level tech support with Mac skills ( we don’t ask for degrees as these are usually not relevant to the roles or an accurate measurement of whether someone can do the job ) £35k and we have made 4 offers all have taken jobs offered elsewhere. Two recruitment company’s have suggested that if we want to get someone we need to offer in the interview
