Novotel Southampton - anyone stayed night before a cruise?
We're thinking of booking onto the RCL 23rd August cruise and would want to go down on night of 22nd. Novotel seems like quite a good price and is between the station and the port. It also offers family rooms.
Also, has anybody walked from the hotels to the port before? Is it do-able. Novotel looks pretty close to gate 10 and as far as I can tell RCL will be going from berth 101 at City Cruise Terminal. Thanks! |

Me 😁 it's fine, clean and very walkable for RCL terminal. We always stay there or Ibis before a cruise.

We stayed there a couple of years ago. We really liked it and it is very handy for the port.

Also, we booked it with Tesco Clubcard points so it cost nothing!

Hi we have just returned from a cruise last week and stayed at the Ibis right next to the Novotel. We were directly opposite the new horizon terminal - leaving from Berth 102 and had great view of the ships from here so Novatel would be a great position too. We were overwhelmed when we opened the curtains and saw the ships !
What was really great was being able to walk in the morning of embarkation and it took less than 10mins. Only one road to navigate and it has traffic lights . If you check out Cruising Petes " walking to the port" on youtube you will see the route- theres a little short cut by the left side of the Novotel. Happy Cruising ! Edited at 07:06 PM. |

I must have had a poor experience then! We stayed last December for a night (cruise was cancelled, but we went on holiday elsewhere and kept the hotel booking).
First room had a filthy bathroom so we asked to be moved. Second room was ok, but decidedly average. I would stay again if the price was cheap, but I wasn't impressed. |
