First Time Cruisers - Hotels/Transfers/Luggage?
Hello!
First time Cruisers here looking for some advice and guidance. We are booked into Coronado Springs for 17th November 2022 until December 1st. We have also booked a 3-night Very Merrytime cruise on the Disney Wish from December 2nd until December 5th. I have 2 main questions: 1) What would be the recommended advice for the 1st December as we don't have a hotel booked as of yet - should we extend our Coronado Springs booking by a night, go to a value resort for the night, go off-site for the night or travel down to the Port Canaveral area and book a hotel there for the night. 2) What is the recommended transport method to get from WDW to the Port? We are 2 adults 0 children with no car but happy to use Lyft/uber, I expect we will have 2 cases each (if we added a night at WDW, could we leave some of our luggage if we don't want to take them all on the cruise? Do other hotels offer this type of service?) Our biggest drivers in the decision making will probably be simplicity (i.e. if staying on-site makes everything much smoother, we will take that into account) and budget (hotel cost + resort fees if off-site + transfer costs) Many thanks for any suggestions/tips! In terms of this really its weighing up the costs. Realistically with there being 2 of you most of the options will be very similar priced.
1. If you go to port canaveral you would probably save a bit of money as the hotel is likely to be the cheapest of the 3 options. Personally I wouldn't bother doing a value for the one night I'd go with either of the other two options as the hassle of moving resorts would outweigh the small saving from doing a cheaper hotel. I think it will depend on what you do for option 2 whether I would choose an extra day in Coronado or a Port Canaveral resort 2. You have a couple of options. Disney do transfers for $35 each way per person to the cruiseline. This is the most straightforward way to do things and there is no luggage issue etc. I believe if you have a hotel booked after your cruise then yes they will store your luggage at a Disney hotel as well (although post covid who knows). If you aren't going back to WDW after the cruise though then they wont store the luggage. There is plenty of storage on the ship though (under the bed) so you can just take the luggage and not open it. In terms of Uber/Lyft you are probably looking at very similar prices to the Disney transfers for a party of 2. Personally booking the transfers through Disney and extending the stay that extra night would probably be my choice but all are doable.
