Only my second cruise - how smart is Cunard?

Hi, we are going on a cruise with Cunard in Dec to Spain, Gibraltar and Lisbon. I have no idea what to pack, I think I’m there for the evening as it tends to be formal so I’ve bought some dresses but what about during the day? I’m normally a jeans and t shirt person. If I had been going somewhere warm I’d be good with my holiday clothes but I’m really not sure about daytime wear.
Any help will be appreciated

Your wardrobe sounds fine. There is usually a black tie formal night, but you only need to be dressed up for the dinner in the dining room (the buffet would still be casual ). Other nights I just wear what I’d wear to a restaurant. Jeans and leggings during the day is fine - or shorts if it’s nice !

Agree with day time as above. Night everyone dresses up. We didn't really want to one night and went to the buffet. That was the only place you could go really without being dressed up. I even felt uncomfortable in there. I've got it sussed now and it wouldn't stop me going with Cunard again. I love their bars and cocktails.

Thanks that really helps. I was almost looking to buy a new wardrobe which would have been expensive. We have 3 gala nights so I had focussed on that. Even then my red dress for the red and gold theme isn’t super formal but I can’t seem to find one I like.

I’m hoping for some nice weather when we are nearer Gibraltar so will take shorts and t shirts. The rest of the time I will layer up.

I’m liking the sound of the bars and cocktails. We are debating doing the drinks package at the moment.

They didn't have one when we last went. What ship are you on. We were on QV and they have a bar right at the bow - above the bridge. We were in the fjords and the view, ambience and service was just lovely. Everyone seems to wear either ball or cocktail dress. You're never going to see people again so wear them a couple of times! 😊

As above - I often wear a dress more than one night on a cruise (especially if it’s a 14 night !) I have a dress from what was Debut at Debenhams for gala night. It was not that expensive and I have also worn it for a wedding. It’s not full length and I felt fine.

We are going on the queen Elizabeth and I’m really looking forward to it. I think I’ll be wearing everything more than once. Having worked from home for the past couple of years I’m enjoying buying some new clothes as I’ve been relying on the same few outfits.

Im getting really excited now.
