union Sq San Francisco Issues

My once favourite safe area of SF but friends in SF posted this warning - for various reason; this included; SF is off my list. It has changed so much in last 30+ years of visiting and I like to think of is in the 1990’s when is was at is pique to visit

Union Square Alliance Statement following last night’s extensive burglary and vandalism attacks at Union Square, San Francisco.

“After such a challenging time, San Franciscans and visitors are ready to come out and celebrate the holidays in Union Square. Even after the events of last night, people are out and about enjoying the holidays in the square. We are certainly grateful for the support of the San Francisco Police Department for their strong presence during the holiday season, and for being at the ready to quickly arrest suspects last night.

The type of organized vandalism and theft that swept through Union Square must stop and must stop now. We must all lean in-- the City, stakeholders, and community members-- to prevent incidents like this from happening again. This is a time for working together to provide assistance and find real and lasting solutions. Union Square is an international symbol of the best of San Francisco, and we’re committed to keeping it that way. We will work with the Mayor and the Police Department to solve these issues. Mega flyer we went just before Covid became a thing
Now never having been before we have to say would we go again at night nope yet we were in Antigua a couple of weeks ago before coming to Florida the first night curfew went from 8pm to 11pm it was absolutely party city just fun celebrating another step,to:freedom and yes the earth moved that night there was an earth quake
All I can say if why oh why
Surely now we all need to pull together and make it safe for everyone to enjoy life to the full
