They charge up to £40 a pop for them so the GPs don't mind at all!

Do you have a relative he could stay with while the rest of you go on Holiday, may be the cheaper option

Thats not strictly true. Practices are struggling for staff and will struggle to prioritise non-essential administrative tasks. Staffing is a massive issue at the moment, regardless of additional income.

They are struggling for medical staff I will agree with that, but there are more than enough interfering, nosey self-centred people in every town for there to never be a vacancy in the reception teams

When they can charge a terminally ill patient £40 for a letter for their life assurance company I lose quite a bit of sympathy!

Okay I’m out. Based on my experience of working with primary care for many years I disagree. But clearly you have a deeply held opinion that I’m not going to change.

I agree that one does feel unnecessarily harsh. Not what one needs at such a difficult time.

I would never do that, leave him at home whilst the rest go on holiday, that's stuff he would need therapy for later in life

I mean it's probably the most quoted comment about Dr Surgery staff - it's hardly just my view, I would suggest 80% of the UK have the same view
