Looks like we will be joining the DVC.

Update post #8

After our april/may holiday got cancelled, we got (almost) all our money back. Looking at the prices for cash bookings in 2021 we got a bit worried how long we can still afford to go.
SSR in 2013 cost us incl tickets and free dining, 283 euro per night. This year it would have been almost 500 euro! And next years prices even more

So with the money we aren't spending on our Florida holiday this year, we
decided to look into DVC. We already did the tour in 2017 but the price for direct wasn't worth it, when free dining was still around. My husband did lots of nerdy calculations in excel.

But now it's time! We are looking for SSR after staying there 4 times, we love it. At around 130 points, this will get us a 18-19 night visit in a studio every other year in April/May. Starting April 2021.

So far, we found 2 deals at $95 pp with points coming at Oct 21 and Feb 22. The difference is in the annual dues, one we have to start paying in 2021 and the other in 2022.
But the one where we start paying in 2022 this dealer isn't answering our questions and keep telling us (quite rudely) to buy more points as this isn't enough.
We explained our situation twice now, but she's still pushing it. Lots of mistakes in her spelling and sentences too. Long story short, we have no trust in her company.

We are a family of four (44,40,13 & 12) and are hoping this will ensure us to can go back for the next 34 years!

Just wanted to share, and ask what you guys think about the $95 pp

Thanks!

I'm not an expert on resale at all, plenty on here are so I'm sure you'll get lots of helpful advice soon, just wanted to say congratulations on your decision and good luck with it

I've owned since 2002 & now have 5 contracts, never had a single regret.

If you aren’t in an immediate hurry, it may be worth waiting a little while as it is highly likely that the US economic situation will result in more DVC sales which would reduce prices.

Typically this happens most Januarys as people get their dues bills and decide they can live without their DVC.

I would expect the current economic situation to make this even more likely. It certainly happened during the last economic downturn.

If you are looking for around 130 points at Saratoga Springs then you are looking for a property that has a lot of owners and should give you plenty of options on the resale market. Of course, if you take your range up to 160 points you will find even more opportunities.

Now most sellers only list with one resale company. I suggest singing up to receive the email updates from some of the main Disney Vacation Resellers. Then I would start firing off offers until you get what you want. I am the Broker for Buy and Sell DVC, Inc.® and, of course, not every seller lists with us so I am going to paste two other companies along with us that you should be watching.

We joined in 2002 with Beach club 150 points and then added SSR 120 followed by 30 AKL best decision we ever made.I estimate we have been at least 25 times since 2002 prior to that we went to Disney at least 15 times so no brainer

The good news is at the moment Disney are buying back very few, if any on ROFR so go lower on offers and it likely will not be taken.
