Budget or hertz?

Hi,

Been given a price for both of the above from Andy at discount Florida car hire. Basically same price- anyone advise on best one to go for or are all car companies the same pretty much?

I don't have any experience with Hertz, but this is my experience with Budget to and from Miami airport:

Checked in online as it advised I could give them my driving license etc and just walk up and pick up keys. Got to the desk and I still had to submit all my details like I hadn't checked in online.

Car was clean and seemed in good condition however after a day the tyre pressure warning came on for one of the tyres, this cost us $2 and 10 minutes at a local gas station to resolve - not a massive issue!

Drop off was really quick and easy back at Miami.

A few days later my card was charged around £300. I asked for a copy of the receipt with breakdown of costs to see what this was - we were expecting to pay for one day using their toll pass and the tolls for that day we expected to be around £60.

They claimed the voucher they received from BA (who we booked with) to cover the cost of the rental didn't cover the full amount and I was charged the difference. The toll charge and use of their pass were lumped into one figure of around £112 and didn't differentiate whether they had over charged for the tolls themselves or if they had charged us for using the toll pass every day although we only used it on one day and they told us it was pay per day.

I couldn't find a way to contact Budget other than call them, and I don't have international calls that are affordable so I submitted this to BA and I'm still waiting on a response as to what's gone wrong and admittedly the voucher payment may be an issue with BA rather than Budget but the toll part is definitely them.

If you're booking direct with them and aren't planning on using tolls though, the rest of our experience wasn't bad!
