Mobile Campervan insurance ideas

Hi,

We are in the process of purchasing a professionally converted Vauxhall Vivaro campervan. Do you have to go to a specialised insurer or can you get insurance from any company for a conversion?

Also is there anything I need to know/be careful of?
Thanks

Adrian Flux are very well respected in the VW scene

If you go with a standard company expect to pay through the nose

You could try the following ... Safeguard, Comfort, Aviva...

Check the small print, some insist on cat 1 alarms, trackers etc...

Some insist the van is parked on your drive etc...

We nearly got caught on the windscreen cover as most only cover £1200, but a new windscreen for ours would cost upwards of £2500+

Check the small print carefully as we found it's a minefield...

Watching with interest.

We are with direct line. They only insure professionally converted vans and they won't insure personal contents in the van eg clothes, gadgets, etc. We have a VW transporter LWb.

Will need to check the windscreen cover though as I thought it woukd be unlimited.

Would just add that if you have breakdown cover through a bank account that you want to cover you (slightly different, I know) check the fine print for vehicle dimensions etc that you are covered.

We have normal car type recovery with our bank, but... They wouldn't touch our mo ho due to size and weight, our insurers, Comfort cover us for UK and 3 month european.

It's all in the small print... boring to read, but essential imo

RAC covers up to 3.5T and LWB VW comes within the width/length restrictions.
