It's not an exact science as its a bit weather related, but they tend to be around towards the end of May more than the first half.

May and September are their main mating times so are around then. I remember our 2011 May trip we saw quite a lot but other May visits I didn’t see any.

We went first 2 weeks in May this year, and twice before in previous years, we hardly see any in the parks or around villa - not that would bother you anyway. But, we drove to Sarasota beach one day this year and only stayed about 2 minutes! It was swarming with them - horrid! I've never seen anything like it in my life. I felt very sorry for the people staying there. We've never had problems with them in the Disney/Universal area during our May trips
