Security is very strict when travelling to the US we flew with TC in May wasn’t even school holidays and took us an hour and a half to get through check in. I can’t imagine it being much better now. I would give yourself at least 3 hours.

We flew with Thomas Cook in September and it took 35 minutes from walking through the door to getting in the departure lounge,we couldn't believe how efficient they were!

T2 security took at 35 mins today. I was told that was quick and it’s normally much longer. I don’t call that quick - compared to my recent experiences of Gatwick or Heathrow in school holidays.

We've got the express passes booked and 3 of us have checked in online but my wife has to go to the desk due to special security - I'm having a proper chuckle at her as it is normally me thats gets the free "upgrade" to the SSSS boarding pass - I've told her to wear a clean pair of crackers and all sorts of stuff

I have one of those faces where I can look guilty when completely innocent, I'd own up to other people breaking wind my OH says, that would be a horrible thing for me I'd go to pieces, we have a system at airport where I go through scanner first, wait for our daughter to walk through then both stand and laugh when OH comes through and starts beeping... Two weeks ago the system failed and I beeped for first time ever, my face must've been a picture

Hi we are flying from Cork to Manchester then Manchester to MCO in Aug. We leave Cork at 7am arrive in at 8.30am we have 90 minutes to make the VA flight. My friend did this last year and said she was met off the Cork Flight by someone from VA who took them to check in and then on to boarding. We will have cleared security in Ireland but reading this just wondering will there be an issue

Never had a problem in Manchester including our last trip in August. If the issue is checkin then that is the airlines issue as they decide how many checkin desks to man and some airlines do not man enough.
For security make sure you follow the rules and take out liquids and electricals and you will be fine. If you forget then you could be at security for a long time.

we always go 4hrs before to be on the safe side. that way if you get stuck in traffic you have spare time. any check in problems. security. etc etc.

We went through T1 it was a Saturday morning but our plenty of time 3.5 hrs before was needed, just to get through security, they were pulling people from the queue whose flights were in the next half hour as they had been queuing for around 1.5 hours to get through. When we got to the front there was only 1 fast track and three normal scanners working.
