I love mine to bits and as I drive a hybrid it's automatic so no clutch issues. However it's getting to the time of year I have the heated steering wheel on, heated seat a little bit and I'm using the front blowers to keep the screen clear so it doesn't happen much. Summer it was grand though.

We had it on our hire car (Ford Escape) in Kansas City recently. Worst part was air con going off. Was like a sauna in no time

Yes I do. My car is an automatic and it tends to roll back when the engine goes off at the stop/start. So I don’t like it!

Why would you not have your foot on the brake? In the case of rear end impact you could hit a kiddy crossing a road, the car in front, roll across a set of lights, or god for bid kill someone on the mentioned items

Well I do, of course! I live in a very hilly area. But the minute I move it to the accelerate it rolls ever so slightly back when the stop/start is on, so I don’t use it then I have no roll back.

ETA. And before you jump on me again, I also use my handbrake on hills.

Lol no inflection in text, i wasnt jumping i was just asking. Sorry.
Mom n dad had a 17 plate auto citroen of some kind and the rollback hill start thing was a godsend for this problem.

That is a design fault really. I've had the start/stop feature in a couple of cars and it simply doesn't kick in if the circumstances are not appropriate. So if I have the air con going full blast it will prevent the start/stop from working, or if the engine is not at the right temperature etc. There has been a button next to the gear shift on our last two cars where I can easily switch it off if I'm at a junction where I know I'll need to make a swift move and would prefer it not to kick in.

Personally I like the feature, but I do a lot of urban driving at the moment and it keeps my fuel consumption close to the published level!

I switch mine off everytime i drive anywhere. Drives me nuts (see what i did there )always stopping. Traffic lights always seem to be on red and then people crossing zebra crossings etc. and don't mention if you are on the motorway in a traffic jam that just keeps inching along! No, i much prefer the engine on all the time. Each to our own.

I can’t believe most of you turn it off. I think it is a great feature and would never dream of switching it off. It doesn’t take a second to restart and has never let me down yet!. I for one will keep the emissions down .
