we saw a launch of the Delta 4 rocket 2 years ago from KSC

personally you cannot beat it from the KSC, you can sit on the benches and they pipe in the checks and then the count down, its a real event, the place was buzzing, i know it wasnt the shuttle or Orion ( or SLS rocket) but it was still cool as hell to see

so KSC would always be my choice

nothing extra, you just had to pay to get into KSC

at the gate they were $ 40 something each, the 4 of us cost slightly under $ 200

we paid on the day as we could juggle the day to suit the launch, as if it was delayed the day before we could go when it was on

Not like it used to for the shuttles.

I'm fortunate enough to have been at the Cape for the shuttle launch of Discovery in 2005 (11 years ago! Blimey) and it was first launch following the Columbia disaster so it was actually quite emotional watching it go up. The streets were packed, everyone waving American flags and cheering.

It was an incredible sight, and the noise!
