son with a peanut allergy

does anyone have any experience or info of travelling and eating in?out when a member of the party has a peanut allergy. My 5 year old son has a this and i would like to take him a packed lunch for when were in the Disney parks etc for piece of mind. But id like to know if anyone has any good ideas or suggestions for meals out and if they cater well for him. This is our first trip to Florida and we really dont know what to expect.

When I am in Orlando, with my tree nut allergy, it is the safest place that I feel, when I am eating out.

The USA put Britain to shame with allergies and eating out.

The ice-cream parlour will make you DSs ice-cream out the back so that there is no chance of cross-contamination.

The chefs come and talk through the menus with you to advise which is made in house, what is bought in, what contains nuts etc. etc.

Nothing is too much trouble.

Hope this helps to put your mind at rest, he will be absolutely fine.

Disney are fantastic when dealing with allergies. When eating on site the chef will visit you before ordering or tell you what you can have from the buffet. We've had positive experiences when eating in lots of other off site restaurants.

Thanks for all the replies. What is Logans road house and where is it please? Tbh we tend to make everything from scratch at home and only eat out at a carvery where we know hes able to enjoy the same as us. Even ice cream contain peanuts and i have to be aware that food can be cooked in oils that have nuts such as arricus oil. Any foods from the peanut family have to be avoided such as chickpeas, lentils too. At lest they understand english unlike when we went to Fuerteventura this year on his first holiday with the allergy. Nightmare!

It's a chain steak house. They has huge bowls of peanuts all over and shells all over the floors.

We too have found Disney great. It's easier when they are that age, you carry their epi pen. Our son 24 now, never carries his. He has had a couple of trips to hospital from peanut sauces, not severe shock. One in LA airport and anti histamine tablets made him ok for flight. They almost never let him board.

Please don't worry as Disney are fantastic with food allergies👍🏻 My DD has a food allergy & every food place in Disney has an allergy menu with everything that is safe for you to eat. Sometimes you have to wait a little longer for the "allergy meal" but my DD has far more choice then she does at home👍🏻
