Actually it is fairly easy to separate direct/grandfathered resale buyers with the new resale buyers as the new resale buy members don't get a plastic membership card which you need to show to get the perks. You are supposed to show it to gain access to the LaTotW as well.

Im not 100% sure you are right on that. I did a 100 point add on back in October and DVC sent me a new blue card. Now it may be because we already have one from all the direct purchases we have.
I'm sure though that others have had the card and only have a resale contract.

The rule is for new buyers who are not members and buy their first lot of points on resale. If they never buy direct then they won't be eligible for a plastic card and hence the perks.

You where already a DVC member (and bought direct) before the new rules came into effect so would be entitled to plastic card.
