Interesting food tour, but as a veggie not for me! Would I go hungry in Shanghai?

not at all, there are plenty of veggie options, I'm a bit fussy about meat so some of the veggie options were very appealing!

Wow, what an interesting day. I have never thought about whether Shanghai would be safe or not but it seems you found it was which is very good to know! Thanks for sharing and can't wait to hear the next instalment.

What a great day of exploration! I think I could've tried the snake if i hadn't seen it being dissected before my eyes beforehand. Brave! Thanks for sharing x

Shanghai looks lovely but I fear when we do finally make it over there, I'll be a wuss and stay in Disney the whole time. As a veggie family, I don't think we'd cope with a lot of the food! :O

Thanks for sharing

Ha! we went for 2 weeks in 2005 and I remember living off boiled rice (with the occasional dash of soy sauce if I was lucky).
Hoping to eat a bit better this time, but staying in Disney the whole time. Tokyo DL seems far worse according to their website - just 1 place per park, but can't remember it being that bad in 2012 - time will tell I guess but then I could do with losing a few pounds anyway!

I'd happily live off boiled rice haha! I think I'll end up taking an extra suitcase filled with snacks to live off!

yeah, my 'snacks' are about the same weight as my clothes as we've got 2 weeks in Chengdu, DLS, Tokyo and HK so more an 'insurance policy' than anything - I'm not a happy person when I'm hungry

A nice veggie curry in tokyo disneysea though looked good, and they did have veggie pizzas I seem to remember, hopefully you'll be pleasantly surprised.
