Delta v Virgin

Hi folks,

We're long standing Virgin flyers, but I've been finding excellent fares with Delta, booked through Air France.

Can any previous Delta Flyers tell me what Delta's like?

We love Virgin but at nearly €70 each cheaper I'm sorely tempted!

Flew back with Delta on a codeshare via JFK last year, couldn't really fault them. We find most airlines much of a muchness to be fair. Back to BA for us this year, price will always dictate for me.

I think just knowing it's similar to Virgin will swing it for us. We're trying to bring this holiday in on a very tight budget, so price is dictating for us too this time!

Are you sure it is definitely a Delta plane? You didn't mention the specific route. Delta and Virgin codeshare, so all Virgin flights also have DL numbers and are bookable via Delta. The direct UK-MCO flights are Virgin-operated. Flights from UK to Atlanta, Detroit etc are shared between the two, so you could be on either depending on the time.

Hi there, yes it is definitely at Delta flight. It flies out of Shannon airport into JFK and then JFK to Orlando.

I really rate Delta and most certainly over Virgin. They are our airline of choice, other than if a Dreamliner is involved.

There is none of the 'cuddly Richard', 'Party like a rockstar' or other misleading schmaltz. They are simply a very good airline with in our opinion, excellent air stewards who are a little older on average, but very efficient., They have a very large US flight network that includes some very good alternatives to simply in and out of MCO, and very good prices. They also have decent IFE.

Seat selection is also free, pretty much at time of booking.

Highly reccomended.

We flew international flights one way on a Delta plane and one way on a Virgin flight last year and I really preferred Delta. Great service and nice food.

In fact I also thought Deltas seats were comfier. Dunno if it was just my bum but Virgins seats felt like they had a board where the cushion should be. I have a padded bum so I'm normally ok 😊, not that time!

I also definately agree re the in flight entertainment - much better on Delta.

Wouldn't hesitate to fly with Delta again.

For me Delta wins overtime over VA, the codeshares are nothing to worry about. We did Delta to JFK in October cabin crew were first rate, and the bonus of free alcoholic drinks, you don't have to pay to prebook seats is a plus
