Just a quick question with the sunpass. It says on the site plus tolls. Does that mean you pay them regardless of having the sun pass or not? I'm driving from Orlando to key West which I'm led to believe has lots of tolls en route. Would a sunpass be worth it?

The cost of the transponder device hire is generally very cheap e.g. Avis/Budget, Alamo/Enterprise, however there are some companies which charge considerably more e.g. Sixt and especially Dollar, Thrifty and Fox.

Considering Avis/Budget, the Sunpass, Epass, Leeway hire is not started until you go through your first toll lane (daily rate charged for remainder of hire). When a renter utilizes these lanes, the toll system identifies the car and charges the standard cash fee for toll roads as published by the toll authority, plus the convenience fee of $3.95 per day ($19.75 maximum per month).
more info here:avis/car-rental/cont...e-US_en-001366

Here is link to the toll info and rates for hire companies sunpass/rentalcar

In my mind I like the convenience of electronic pass and generally keep it on. I would recommend it.

Some people switch it off as they prefer to pay at tolls. Note there are some roads moving to cashless only, presently I think there are only a few.

I posted to Alamo fb and they replied 'Hello James, Our Full-size Car Size fleet includes Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, Chevy Malibu, Dodge Charger, Kia Optima, & Ford Fusion. Thanks! -Stacy'

Anyone know what convertibles Alamo have in their Kissimmee fleet? Hoping for a Mustang or a Camaro.

We have hired a group w Large, standard SUV with Avis as part of our B A flydrive. A Ford Escape is mentioned on the BA site.

My sons girlfriend is now coming with us so we have 5 adults. We will have 5 suitcases, a large expandable holdall, 5 hand luggage cases and goodness knows what else.

Do I need to upgrade the car and if so what do you recommend we upgrade to?

My husband really doesnt want a people carrier.

Thanks for any suggestions.

A Ford Escape is a midsize SUV. A standard SUV is like a Hyundai Santa FE. If your hubby doesn't want a minivan than I would go for a FULL size SUV
