Love Bugs on the Coast
Hi All
We first went to Orlando in Sept 2006 and encountered the dreaded love bugs. We are looking at returning this year at the end of Sept. We are having 5 days at the coast either AMI or St Johns Pass. Does anyone know if the bugs appear at the coast? Many Thanks

We have seen them but not in September, normally just see a couple but nothing bad, we normally go in April.
The absolute worst time was the last week in April, first week May around 6 years ago. The swarms were just ridiculous and we couldn't sit on the beach at Siesta Key, however when we travelled back up to clearwater they were gone. The front of our car was covered in them (yuck)

They're only around in May and September. Suddenly show up for a couple of weeks and then disappear again.

You do get Love Bugs on the coast, but in 10 years I have only experienced them once where I was very conscious of them and we always go in May.
They are attracted to white and for some reason freshly painted walls not sure what else. It does vary year to year but yes they are pesky little critters when around. Rotonda Girl |
