We have been in August nearly every year for the last 10 years - it really isn't that bad at all. Yes it rains most afternoons but it is normally only for an hour or so. It is hot but everywhere is set up for it with plenty of cover and air con. The last few days in England have been worse than Florida with the heat as we cannot cope.

As my youngest has just done his exams, we went in June this year - the weather was similar to August. It rained in the evening quite often. Not enough to spoil things.

You won't need quick queue at Busch Gardens. Aside from Cheetah Hunt (do that first or last not mid afternoon) few of the rides generate long queues. Save your money for the excellent food at the Smokehouse.

With Express at Universal you will have a fantastic time. Best approach re the weather is to do IOA or Volcano Bay in the morning (it seldom rains in the morning in our experience) and then if it rains in the afternoon you can do Universal Studios which has loads of indoor attractions.

Disney has always been really busy every time we have been. Just need careful planning and tactical use of fastpass.

You will have a great time.

Yep totally agree. Last year it rained every single evening apart from one and it wasn’t always a quick shower.

We went in the last 2 weeks of August, and it was fine. Crowd levels were easily tolerable.

It was incredibly hot but so long as you take it slow and have a break it's not a problem.

Lots of thunderstorms too but these are always very short lived in Florida!

Yes rain can last all afternoon, but that can happen in any month! We’ve been in all months apart from Jan and Feb and had bad and good weather in all. May is our favourite time to go but last year we had awful weather, rain rain rain. Can happen in any month really

Just to give you some hope regarding FPs, I managed to get FoP on the day a couple of weeks ago. We were sat in our room at CSR at about 5 pm discussing where to go that evening (having used our pre-booked FPS earlier in the day) and I was randomly playing with the FP booking part of the app, when availability for 8pm on FoP popped up so I grabbed them.

I believe July is similar to August weather wise and we have had a lot of rain but it hasn't stopped us enjoying ourselves. DD and myself have coped pretty well but DW has struggled a bit. Have to say that we found DHS the hardest to cope with as there is very little shade and the concrete really reflects the heat. The other parks were ok, AK was the easiest as there is lots of shade.

DD and myself have said that we would do summer again but DW is not so keen.

As for Busch and SeaWorld, we found that during the day, if the weather is good, then the queues were long. Later in the day or if the weather isn't great then the queues are fine.

We went to both BG and SeaWorld this week. Monday was good weather and queues for Kraken were 30 minutes, Manta was 80 minutes and Atlantis was 80 minutes. Later in the day Kraken was 10 minutes and mako was a walk on. Thursday the weather was wet all day. The longest queue in the park was for infinity falls at 40 minutes. Coasters were pretty much walk on.

Tuesday (nice weather) we went to BG. Queues for cheetah were over 90 minutes. Cobra's curse 50, sheikra 80, Month 60, Tigris 90.

At 4pm we left and checked in to our hotel and had dinner. Went back to the park at about 7pm. Queues were minimal except for cheetah which was still over 30 minutes and Tigris at about 20 minutes. Everything else was pretty much walk on.

Wednesday we went back to Busch and the weather was poor. Most rides were less than 10 minutes, except cheetah.

We have found it difficult to get what you want if not onsite.
if in the onsite hotels, people can just ‘pop’ into the parks for a couple of rides but if like us, you are in a villa- we want to make the most of it whilst in the park.
It’s All geared up for onsite visitors, the fastpass system facilitates the convenience which is not available for those offsite. It’s a shame but we have found it quite frustrating😢

Whilst getting FoP, SDD, 7DMT and ToT can be difficult if off-site we found pretty much everything else bookable on the day. We followed the advice of doing our first FP and then moving our others forward as soon as we were tapped in. Repeated the process on our second FP and then immediately after tapping in for our 3rd FP we would book the next one. After booking it you can keep refreshing availability and keep moving it forward until you get a time you want.

On one day we did 15 FPs. Only joined the standby line for 7DMT but that was because we had a breakfast booking at BoG and got on before general park opening.

We always go last 2 weeks of August. It is very hot and humid and we have had some holidays where it rained a lot and some where we saw very little rain at all. We are onsite for 5 days this year and so I got fp for fop and 7 dwarves at 60 days. I am now doing my offsite fp one day at a time and so far there has been availability for everything except fop and 7 dwarves. You can sometimes pick these up nearer the time though, just keep checking.

We did a 3 week trip in August 2017. The first few days the heat was a shock and I remember DH saying never again in August...but we acclimatised and by the end were thinking about another August trip!
We didn’t struggle with FP but did stay onsite for the Disney portion of the trip so I am not sure how it would have been if we were offsite.
The last week or so was really quiet as it got to the end of the month and we loved it. As for the rain we had a couple of showers during the first 2.5 weeks and that was it, any other showers we missed... however the last few days we had a fair bit of rain.
We still feel the same and we would return in August if we were tied to school holidays however our son now has an apprenticeship and we have more flexibility so will probably go in sept/Oct next time.
