Following with interest as we need a new bed. 👍🏻

We have the added complication that our bedroom is a loft conversion and whilst access complies with building regs, it’s very tight. Not sure I’d get a king size divan up. The only reason we have one here now is because the builders kindly deposited it there before they fitted the landing.😅

Do you have anywhere local to you ( not a chain) where you could go and at least feel the mattress?
We decided to support local this year, two weeks ago we bought two king size beds without drawers but drawers were optional 2 x orthopedic mattresses, two contemporary headboards, 3 bedside tables , one chest of drawers and a two seater sofa for £1300 ,free delivery within four days.

Harrison's Beds have a good reputation. We have a King Size one and are very pleased with it.

Its a local family run company, the service is amazing and all the furniture is solid and fully assembled.
I actually felt quite guilty we hadn't used them for years but they are doing a cracking trade as a lot of the bigger chains have huge wait times ( our DFS is 16 weeks )we managed to kit both mine and my mums place out.
They delivered and took all the bed packaging away , I know lots of places don't have this service but it is worth looking about.

We’re on the hunt for a new bed too. I went to Dreams yesterday as they have a mattress that analyses your measurements and sleeping position etc then recommends the sort of mattresses that would work well with the kind of support you need.

We at least have that information now to help us when we’re shopping around. Our current mattress is too firm and I’m having some real lower back and hip issues as a result.

Some years ago we bought a six foot bed ……. Except that it came as two single sized divans that bolted together and one six foot mattress. Since then we have changed the mattress for two singles and kept the two bases bolted together. The mattresses are three inches shorter than the original mattress but as we are not tall people that does not bother us.
