I think people need to remember the travel ban wasn’t a blanket ban on all foreigners. The United States has been receiving travellers from plenty of other countries outside of the select few on the banned list.

The rules for those foreign travellers have been broadly the same since they brought testing in. A negative antigen test within the 3 days before departure. That won’t suddenly change just because they decide to allow Brits in.

Having travelled to the US this summer - the antigen test was fine and there was no requirement to test again on arrival.

Did you do the video supervised antigen or just one you uploaded your results to the provider?

We went with the LivingCare LFT for our trip to Crete this summer.

£25, completed at home, take a picture with the result and passport, then upload the result to Living Care. They responded with the signed certificate within minutes.

Sounds reasonable.

I feel like I have to keep putting the I don't know for definite disclaimer before everything I put as I've not had had first hand experience but the CDC specifically say that at home unsupervised tests aren't acceptable which is the difference between Crete and the USA and the pic taking and uploading ones aren't accepted. Are people just getting lucky that the airline's haven't checked to see if it was a supervised test or not. I am hoping beyond hope the at home ones are okay to save some money

It will be interesting to see.

For reference, the signed digital certificate makes no reference to how the test was conducted. Here's an example.

They could specify specific providers and test types, but I'm not sure how pragmatic that will be.

I wish they would just get on with saying what they require so I can get sorted in what I'm doing with what provider.

We have waited 18 months another week or 2 should be fine. I'm booked for the 6th and not nervous really. Only concern was over the vaccine but that has been somewhat eased.
