This is the final design and I have few decisions to make

The backsplash will be quartz and I will have visible sockets. The quartz is whiteish with bit of grey like in the photo. I should stick to white sockets, right? I see most people are now getting stainless steal but I think white will be better.

Second and bigger dilemma is the support beam that was not in the plan. I will have support beam going from the oven unit across to the dinning room. Builder is saying to lower the ceiling after the beam all the way to the windows/doors will be better. I on other hand don't fancy the thought of that as I may want to add some form of privacy curtain/blind that could need some wall space above the doors.

Hope my question makes sense.

Basically he is saying leave it flat after teh beam as this photo vs having the more common go up after the beam

Sockets: yes I would also do white

Ceiling: a curtain rail normally doesnt need much space - will there be no space at all if the ceiling is flattened out? i am with you on the curtains - we have thin curtains along ours and its great in case there is sun shining through or in the winter evenings to avoid feeling like a goldfish in a bowl.

I have a similar quartz splash back, and we went for brushed steel sockets, we were advised the white may ‘yellow’ over time.

I think the traditional white sockets have had their day.

I think brushed steel look nice with the black inserts but not the white inserts.

Have you thought of grey sockets? They look good. Don't forget to put in some with USB outlets.

I would lower the ceiling and get blinds that fit into the frame (perfect fit). We have curtains and they just get in the way. I would like to change them to the blinds.
