Sobering read... our daughter in year 2 has pulled out.. she is now back home with us... been an absolute disaster... bullied out of halls... complete isolation...no support from the Universities apart from go and see a doctor... go and see a doctor just get perscribed AD's like a pack of Jelly tots... virtually all her friends are on sertraline along with our daughter... 2 years ago went off on this adventure a bright fun loving girl... come back an absolute shell... yes her year had the problems with lockdown... constant isolation etc... but deep down I knew University was not for her... school and other factions pushed her in that direction. If I could turn back time I would roll back those few years.

I’m so sorry that things didn’t work out for your DD, and it’s sad to see how many students have struggled with mental health issues over the past few years. They’ve been let down by GP’s, universities and medical care in general I feel and many have faced the decision to drop out as they’ve had to put their mental health first so haven’t coped with the challenges of university.

I do hope your DD’s health improves and she’s soon feeling happier and back to her usual self 💞 It’s heartbreaking and extremely worrying to see so many students struggling, and not getting the care they should be when they try to get help. Sending good wishes to your DD xx

So sorry to read about your daughter, I do hope she can get some help and get back to the girl she was before uni 💞

Proud Mum alert - hope you don’t mind me showing off a bit. DD graduated today with a 1st Class Honours. We’re so proud of her.

Sadly she hadn’t yet been able secure a teaching post for September but she’s quite happy to do some supply work to gain some experience. She just missed out on one job - she was in the top two but the other candidate had a year’s experience, so hopefully some supply work will give her the experience she needs.

Very happy household today 🥳

That’s fantastic news, well done to your DD 🎉 No wonder you are so proud, that’s a wonderful achievement 💞

I’m sure she’ll soon get a permanent teaching post with such a brilliant degree, and a little supply work experience too.

I wondered if this thread would be busy this week!

After 3 hard years that Soph really hasn't enjoyed at all she received her grade today and she got a First Class Honours degree in Primary Education

As others have said about their kids, Soph felt let down by the the Uni when she had an issue, they really don't support the students well at all.

I am so proud of her and she is thrilled but if she had it to do over she would run a mile.

Well done to everyone on their grades. They have all done so well

It’s a shame she hasn’t enjoyed it - the same degree as my DD. Although it was not the uni experience she was expecting and the support wasn’t always very good, she has enjoyed it.

Good luck to your daughter for the future, has she been able to find a teaching position yet?

She actually dropped the QTS element during year 2. The uni kept placing her in reception and she hated it enough to withdraw from teaching. Thankfully she continued with the degree though.

Soph has a friend who went to another uni to do Primary Ed and she loved it too. I just think Soph was unlucky with her choice of uni.

Has your Daughter found a position?

Not yet, seems to get pipped at the post by others who have more experience.

She’s going to register for supply work for September and hopefully that will give her the experience she needs going forward.
