Took the peedie plane to town today

Thought some Dibbers would like to see how we travel to town for a day visit 😊
Often go over on the ferry, take the car and do a 'big' shop. It's an hr and 25 mins each way though.
The 'peedie plane' ( small 8 seater) is only 10 mins. Great when you've to go over for the dentist or just fancy a day out, lunch etc.

On the way over we were sat behind the pilot but didn't think to take any photos. I'll try and remember next time.
Bring back some memories Megaflyer ? 🥰

Much quicker way to travel. May I ask how much the fare is compared to the ferry?

By the way envious of your temps today - roasting here!

Yeah, we reached a balmy 14 degrees today Send us some sun and heat please.

Plane return journey is £19 islander rate, if you're going outer Isles to town, but a crazy £74 return if your journey starts in Kirkwall ! Thank goodness for the islander rates. These are open to anyone, not just residents.
Ferry is cheaper at £10.98 return with a car costing £25.92 return.

Sorry another question. Are you far from Scapa Flow? Reason I ask is I have started researching the Military history of my Wife's ancestors. One went down on the Goliath in 1915. 570 men, out of a crew of 750 were killed. That has led to other service personnel some of whom were based at Scapa

Oh Gull brought back some wonderful memories - he is it after landing in Sanday (with the fire warden )

Its a great trip and we did have a couple of Americans just on it for the ride around

My view as we were coming into land at that other small Island (I think the flight was around a minute long ? Before heading back to Kirkwall)

I so need to go back to Sanday - more gins to try with Gull !

I'd need to go to town and then drive to Scapa Flow. There's a new Scapa Flow museum opened on Hoy incidentally.

Wow - another reason to come back and see it. Still intrigues me what my Mother did there during the war (all sneaky beaky stuff I expect as she never said much about - all she said was interceptions ……will probably never know now(
