Ponderosa & Golden Corral

As a kid i loved both of these places, but since going in April/May this year and seeing how run down and how bad the food quality was I think my time visiting these two has come to a sad end.

Does anyone know of any other decent buffet style places (offsite)?

We didn't find anything wrong (or different) about our visit to Golden Corral in April - been going for years. It seems most (all?) Ponderosas closed.
We used to go to both for breakfast, but for a while now we've stayed at hotels with breakfast included, so have only used GC for lunch / dinner.

I Wouldn’t go to a golden coral if you paid me but everyone likes and dislikes different thing, buffet type places are a thing of the past there just not as popular as they once were, plenty of hotels offer buffet breakfasts the rosen plaza on idrive does a good one it costs a more than a golden coral but quality and cleanliness is miles better

We do Ponderosa on the first morning for breakfast, just because it's our tradition since we first went in 96 .It's not as good as back in the day but hey.We prefer to go to Cracker Barrel,Bob Evens ,Perkins and IHOP.

thats my issue. they have both gone way down hill. i like to do them for nostalgic value but i dont think i can even bring myself to do that anymore.

i love buffet style breakfasts though

We used to love Golden Coral. Particularly with kids as they could choose what they wanted by looking at what was on the buffet. Did one in Missouri in January and my steak was really nice. Sorry to hear the ones in Orlando May have gone downhill.

Golden Corrals vary, many are franchised and dependant on how pro active the franchise holder is.
We have been to a few across Florida and some are very popular and very clean, there is one in Lake Placid which is spotless.
For many people it is a way to eat out inexpensively and many away from The tourist spots are heavily populated by seniors which is great to see.
It isn’t really fair to make a sweeping generalisation of all Golden Corrals but agree that a couple near Orlando are not as hygienic as they could be.

Edited to add if anyone is concerned about the hygiene of restaurants in Florida you can check the recent inspection results here: myfloridalicense/wl1...ID=&brd=H&typ=
Just as you can in the UK
