Weather in the parks yesterday
HI
we are due to fly on thursday from Heathrow (not long now!). I checked out both the Disney and the Universal apps yesterday and saw that there were a number of rides closed. On the universal app it said that it was "delayed opening due to weather". Question is, anyone there yesterday? Was the weather really bad? thanks

Any lightening with in iirc 10k causes outdoor rides to close as/when
may have just been torrential rain as always get there as early in the AM in August |

We are staying at Universal and yesterday it started storming with heavy rain at around lunchtime and was on/off for the rest of the afternoon. We didn’t want to waste an afternoon waiting for it to stop so headed to the mall and returned in the evening

Worth also remembering the weather can be very localised
can recall being in animal kingdom & half the park was bone dry, the other half monsoon season... |

Any lightning in the area will cause rides to close. When we went in March it was 30 degrees plus every day which led to lots of lightning storms so there were a few days where outdoor rides were all closed temporarily.

Yesterday definitely was localised. I live near Animal Kingdom and we never got more than a few drops. I could see a big black cloud near Universal but it never hit us.

It was thundering and lightning and threatening rain in Hollywood Studios but didn’t rain. This did close Slinky Dog for about an hour.
