I remember between Whitby and Scarborough there was a cafe called the Flask - I wonder if it’s still there...

Have only been Butlins once around 23 years ago for a big family few days away - even my nan came 😀 have to be honest the only thing I really remember the floor in the chalet kitchen being so dirty that our shoes stuck to it and trying to take my eldest who was around three to the swimming pool and it was shut as someone had done a number 2 in it . Have been to many other campsites since but never back to butlins not sure why .

OMG... as a child we spent a week at Butlin's Bognor Regis every single year in May half term. There were about 6 families (sometimes more) - friends of my parents and their relatives plus assorted children. Such fond memories of those days on the beach (sheltering behind the windbreak), meals taken in 'sittings' and the Redcoat shows. The 'adults' always used to say 'Daytime is for children, nighttime is for adults' as they left us behind in the chalet and went off to the bar!

Love these memories.
As a child I begged my parents to take me to Butlins , my cousins went and they made me so excited for the swimming competitions and fancy dress.
We eventually went to Filey and Skegness. I remember the pool with the glass sides, I spent so much time underwater! Does anyone remember the tropical storms in the Beachcomber bars? On the hour every hour I think!
Loved it so much I applied and was successful in getting a job as a redcoat! Unfortunately I had a skating accident and there was a possibility I needed surgery so withdrew.
I have no pictures from that era so it’s great to see anyone else’s.

Love this, we went a few times to Minehead mid eighties, me and my brother would stay in a couple of nights with a 'listening service' while mum and dad went to the club. There was a club there that had a volcano that 'erupted' every half hour or so and me and my brother thought it was the best thing we had ever seen. 🤣 We also won a bear on the race horse game, the one where you roll the balls in the holes to move your horse, we named him Pugsley and he went with us on subsequent trips like a mascot, great times...

As kids we went to Butlins Filey and Pwhelli .
I remember it fondly - Always had a good time .
I too remember first and second sittings, cheering when a plate was dropped in the dining hall.
I too remember Beachcomber Bar, thought it was such an enchanted place and the tropical storms in there.

I remember queuing up inside the amusement arcade at the designated opening time in a crowd of eager kids waiting for the doors to the funfair to be opened - we lived for the funfair open hours!
I remember the Parachute Ride (I think they were called) you sat in a double chair with a hood on it, a little chain across for safety and whizzed round and up and down in the air! Oh the joy!

The chalets, I remember in long rows with an upstairs and downstairs chalets (metal stairs that made a racket!) and a grass garden area between you and the next row.
