Thirteen year terms for Cole and Bowers
Long's passengers Jessie Cole and Albert Bowers, both 18, were each handed 13-year sentences for manslaughter over their roles in PC Harper's death.

Sixteen years for Henry Long
Getaway driver Henry Long, 19, has been jailed for 16 years at the Old Bailey for manslaughter over the death of PC Andrew Harper, who was killed in the line of duty in Berkshire last August.

'I reject the contention that any of you has shown remorse'
Mr Justice Edis, the judge sentencing the three teenagers over PC Harper's death, says none of the defendants had "any real education", and said they had been "taken out of school far too young".
He added: "I reject the contention that any of you has shown remorse."

With time spent on remand Long will be out in circa 6 years and will undoubtedly carry on his life of thievery and other associated criminality.

Scum of the earth the three of them.

Bigger sentences than I thought they would get - but still not enough.
I have done jury service and its a real eye opener, the juries I sat on seemed to spend more time discussing how the police had behaved rather than the criminal and this was 30 years ago.
One case was a man had a lock knife when we was stopped and he was charged with carrying a weapon, he was unemployed and said he carried it to do odd jobs, only two of us concentrated on him , the other ten were worried why had he been stopped in the 1st place and he got a not guilty

I read that the judge said they must serve at least 2/3 of the sentence.

So Long will be inside over 10 years. Whole life would have been better.

Obscene sentences. That judge should be ashamed of himself.

Absolute disgrace 😡😡😡.

If a dog rag rolled a human like they did to that poor PC it would have been put to sleep... sounds good enough to me 😡😡

Not long enough. I do not know if there is a maximum sentence for manslaughter, but this is not really any justice at all for what they did.

Even spending 2/3 rather than a half of sentence means they will all still be young men when they come out ready to wreak havoc again.

If I was the wife, having no children, I would get a hit man to kill them in a very, very painful, prolonged, and undignified way. If I was caught I'd happily face the consiquencies.

My heart breaks for her and the rest of the family.
I would do exactly the same!

I'm no expert on our judicial system so I had a read of this.

lawtonslaw/resourc...ace-in-prison/

It seems that manslaughter can carry a life sentence but it's the judge that sets the actual tariff. I haven't read the actual official press release so I don't know if he imposed the maximum sentence that he was able or whether he reduced it from a whole life tariff.

Heaven forbid that they lodge an appeal and some dodgy human rights lawyer gets involved at the UK's taxpayer's expense and they end up doing old Mrs Green's shopping for a couple of weeks.

I thought it was the worry of appeals that made them go for manslaughter? Surely they can't appeal this?
