The Lake District

Had a fantastic day trip to Windermere yesterday. Looking at booking for a one week stay to the lakes next may half term (2 kids age 14 and 9) - planning early as availability already seems limited. Any recommendations of where to stay to explore the area?

Grasmere is a nice village with plenty of walks within a 5mile radius.

This is harrop tarn, an easy walk from thirlmere.

Grasmere has a nice walk up to easedale tarn.

30 mins away you have sticklebarn and stickle tarn.

Western Lake District is much quieter and cheaper... look towards the coast. The crowds can rival Disney World in the central Lakes area!

We were at Bowness on Windermere yesterday and took a boat out on the lake. It was lovely. We’re staying in Morecambe at the moment and drove up but I’d like to stay in one of the lodges at Whitecliff Bay Holiday Park near Ambleside as the location us great.

We re going next week and staying at the top of Ullswater and then on to Bassenthwaite so will let you know

We have stayed at Windermere before and south Ullswater.
Windermere wasn’t for us, much preferred Ullswater
