I love the smell of line dried washing but I don’t have a long enough window to put it out and get it dry before my neighbour fires up their daily barbecue. It doesn’t dry well outside but I put it out around 9 and have to bring it in at about 1 as soon as I see the smoke coming over. One thing I really dislike is my washing smelling of burgers! So, I bring it in and finish it off on the airer. I don’t bother at all from October onwards because I’m out of the house for 11 hours and it’s cold and damp by the time I get home. I’ve already started drying it indoors this year. My problem now is that I work from home and the airer is in my ‘office’. I have to remember to pop it outside the door if I have a video meeting. I can’t have the boss seeing my laundry in the background!

Most of the washing goes out on the line. I will leave it out until abt 4pm at mo as it starts to get damper by then. It dries fairly quickly and I like the smell of fresh air than chemical dryer sheets. Only use the dryer if desperate, I'm sure it expensive to use during the daytime. We're lucky to have inherited a drying rack over our stairs, so we use this if the weather's bad.

Start to use the tumble dryer more throughout October but try to keep going outside (especially bedding) till I back to work after October half term. Looking at the weather forecast looks like last lot of bedding outside tomorrow. 🙁

Hi
I try to get it out on the line most days and if not I hang overnight on a clothes airer and finish in the drier in the morning usually only takes 10 mins, my drier costs 28p per hour to run and with the amount of washing I have to do it would cost a fortune especially straight from the machine. Love the smell washing that has been out x

I probably do a load a day on average, so it goes on in the morning, out at lunchtime, in at teatime. Even if not dry it is usually a bit drier than it was.

I love drying washing outside, it is so satisfying to see it all hung out! Having said that, it will be mostly tumble dried from now until spring unless it’s a very sunny day and it’s something that dries quickly. Always seems a waste to use the drier when there is free sunshine and breeze outside.

I don’t stop as such, I will gladly hang out all year round , the only times I don’t are raining weather obv , or if it’s damp.
As a child I remember my mum often bringing washing in that was stiff with frost lol.

All year round if possible even just to get it a little dryer then into the tumble dryer. I loath/hate/detest laundry hanging in the house so that never happens. |
