How many days for Disneyland /San Diego/Santa Monica
Looking to go next september just 2 of us and first timers. Was thinking initally 6 or 7 days in Anaheim. Was thinking 3 days for disney at first but with the opening of star wars was wondering if to book an extra day?
Hubby would like a rest day by the pool and a brewery tour (would uber that and i have to include him in my plans ) Do universal by shuttle one day and then another day doing the Walt tour from Anaheim tour company. We were then looking to hire a car for 2nd part and go to San Diego for a few nights and then the rest of nights at Marina del ray or Santa Monica. Doing hollywood 1 day and leaving a free day to decide what we would like to do before the following day flying home from lax. So is this rough itinary ok? 6 or 7 days Anaheim 4 or 5 days San Diego 2 or 3 days Marina del Ray/Santa Monica Also should we do Universal when based in Anaheim or Santa Monica? |

I’d spend less time in Anaheim and more time in Santa Monica and definitely do universal from Santa Monica

I'd do less in Anaheim and a few near Universal to do that, Griffith Park, Hollywood, Warner Bros Studio Tour etc.
Can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes each way from Santa Monica to the Hollywood area. If you like theme parks then Six Flags Magic Mountain is 20-30 minutes from Universal. |

I personally like San Diego over LA so would defiantly go with 5 days there. It also has loads of breweries too so Husband will be happy. I think what always puts me off LA is everything is so spread out. As others have mentioned it helps if you can group things together so you don't loose time travelling between places. As an alternative to the Walt tour, Bob Gurr himself runs a tour (Look for the waltland website). It only runs on a very limited basis though, we've never managed to time it right to do it.

On our first similar trip we only had a few days at San Diego and wished we had booked more. There is much to see and do. We did go back and stayed for 10 nights and fell in love.

We did 6 nights in San Diego, could have stayed more.
We did go to SD Zoo, SD Safari park, Sea World, USS Midway and had a flight in a 1920s biplane

We too had 6 nights in San Diego a few years ago, and could have easily spent a few more. So much to do for all ages, dreamy weather and such a chilled vibe. Loved it.

I have done 8 days in San Diego and it wasn't enough. So much to see and do. Planning on 12 days next year with 2 days in LA.

Like others, I found San Diego far preferable to LA. It's a beautiful city (and that is coming from a country boy who dislikes cities any bigger than Truro). There is also so much to do!
