Keep on checking if you are looking for new flights

Once we were pretty sure that TC was done my DD started looking for replacement flights for us. The prices were appalling. As we are going in the school Easter holidays we were stretching ourselves to afford the flights we had, so just couldn't pay more. We saw our holiday disappearing.
Once we got the worst news this morning, we like everyone else had a flurry of contacting credit card company, and searching for new flights.
Most were very, very expensive - silly money for economy, or we saw a good price, then it was gone.
We started looking at alternative dates, which would have meant cutting days off either end of our 2 week holiday, and indirect flights.

Then we found flights with KLM. An hour previously we had checked KLM and they were really high. Then suddenly there they were, our exact dates, Manchester direct to Orlando which we wanted, and slightly less than we paid with TC!
I just wanted to give some hope to those not finding flights they can afford or which suit them. Sometimes constantly searching works.

I ended the day very relieved , but with a headache!
Good luck everyone.

We also booked new flights for next July/August through KLM yesterday. Direct Man-MCO and indirect return via Atlanta - all codeshare with Virgin

I booked new flights with virgin at 2am yesterday morning when the official announcement was released

I paid £1100 for two flight the end of April. £260 more than my TC flight but was very happy

I checked last night and they were £2760

These prices have really GOT to come down at some point surely

I think at the minute the airlines are chancing their arm in the hope people will panic buy

As the OP states... just keep checking

No way would we be going if we had to pay nearly £3000 for 2 economy flights

Kathryn, I looked on Skyscanner, and was directed to KLM and the booking was through KLM.

The same flights we paid £908 each for yesterday were over £5000 for the two of us this morning For everyone's sake I hope they drop again. We are sorted, but many are searching for affordable flights.

My flights are still coming out at silly amounts - July 2020, I found a Virgin fare I was happy with last night but needed to draw some money out of savings and by the time that had cleared this morning the price had doubled so between 11pm last night and 5am this morning ☹️ Also I looked at BA and they were quite reasonable last night, tried them also at 5am and showing NO availability at all for my dates (when there was tons the night before), by 6am availability was showing again but prices had nearly tripled - the cynic in me thinks they took down the tickets and repriced then...

I can’t believe the flight price increases. We were about to book with TC for our flights last year and then BA had a sale so we went with them instead. The same flights we have now have gone up to £5500 for 2 adults 1 child not including bags!
