Crafty Dibbers...do you use a Silhouette?

Hi...just wondering if any crafty carvers out there use the Silhouette Portrait or Cameo, or another brand machine entirely?
I really, really want one and wondering if I buy one in Walmart/Target, will it be usable here? Worried I'll get it back and won't be able to plug it in, or use the software as I guess it'll be US based?

Thanks xx

Hi I've got a silhouette, a cricut machine and the new scan n cut machine. My silhouette is the older machine so I tend to use my cricut and scan n cut the most. Love the scan n cut which you can get from create and craft.
I'm not sure that a machine fron the states would be compatible in U.K because of voltage.

Ooh I've not heard of scan n cut, is that the Brother one?

I'm mainly wanting it for vinyl work...personalised wine glasses and things... as by the time I've bought them all from Etsy, I could have bought a machine and all my supplies!

Would the scan n cut work best for this sort of thing?

I have the cricut expression and bought it in America years ago, just changed their power lead for ours and it has worked perfectly well.

I bought a Silhouette Portrait earlier this year from the US Silhouette store (there was an offer on and it was only $99). I had it delivered to Mockingjay and picked it up in Feb.

There is a FAQ on their wrbsite which specifically coveres off the question of whether it's compatible in the UK and I can confirm that it is!

They have built the Silhouette machines to be multi voltage so they work in UK and US. I bought a US to UK plug adaptor from Argos when I got back home for £4 and it works like a charm!

The one I purchased was literally the machine, blade, cutting mat with $25 store credit- none of the additional tools from that pic. They seem to do promotions through the main site fairly regularly.

They are quite large when boxed so if you're in two minds maybe consider buying from YOLO in the UK which often does promotions through their Facebook page.

I have a Silhouette portrait and generally use it for cutting HTV for t shirts or stencils for glass etching. I don't really use it for paper cutting although I'm sure I could. I personally love it

It's not too big either, I bought a medium/large toolbox and it's more than big enough for the portrait and all it's accessories plus a ton of other crafting stuff

I bought mine on Amazon.co.uk
